| The University of Utah was honored to host Olympic participants and events at the 2002 games, including the Olympic Village, Stadium, and a number of cultural events. We wish to express appreciation to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and to the thousands of people on our campus who contributed to a successful experience.
Despite heavy involvement, the University kept its doors open, continuing academic excellence, research, and service. Our 2002 motto: "Business Somewhat as Usual!"
Thousands of U students, faculty, and staff participated as temporary workers or volunteers, contributing services that included weather forecasting, medical services (including drug testing), language instruction, and cultural awareness training.
The Olympic Cauldron Park serves as a permanent legacy of the U’s involvement in the Games. Thanks to all for making the 2002 Winter Olympic Games a rousing success!
