From foreign language
knowledge to broadcast communication skills, the talents of University
of Utah students, faculty and staff contributed greatly to the success
of the 2002 Games. Here are some ways individuals here were involved:
- Games-time Employment
Earning money while playing an integral role in the Games, about
2,000+ individuals affeliated with the University of Utah worked
for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and its vendors.
- Student Internships
Over the last 5 years about 486 students obtained internship positions
with various Games-related organizations, including the Salt Lake
Organizing Committee, VISA, Olympic Properties of the United States,
Salt Lake City, Forrest Service, and many others. Over 100 of
these students advanced from their internship into full-time,
paid positions.
- Volunteer Positions
About 2,000 University affeliated individuals volunteered for
the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Although their assignments vary,
they all had a chance to work behind the scenes, helping make
the Games truly spectacular!
