Universities planning major events in the future may benefit from being aware of the special policies that were developed at the U of U. Some of these initiatives have carried forward to benefit the University in the long-term, such as emergency response planning. Others were one-time accommodations to a special situation. The principal lesson for major event planning in an academic setting is to consult with those affected, craft a plan, consult again, refine the plan, consult again, and then consult again.
In the Campus Master Plan and the Appendices of the 2002 Final Report,
there are explanations of what ultimately emerged with regard to:
academic scheduling
curricular planning
parking
staff scheduling
internships and credit
mail and package deliveries
confidentiality and security screening
