Dr. Wilfred D. Samuels, General Editor

Dr. Wilfred D. Samuels, President of African American Literature and Culture Society, is an Associate Professor of English and Ethnic Studies at the University of Utah. He is also the Director of the African American Studies Program and the former Coordinator of the Ethnic Studies Program. He received his B.A. in English and African American Studies from the University of California, Riverside; and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in American Studies and African American Studies from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Samuels has published essays, book reviews, and interviews on African American literature. His published works include a book on the Nobel Prizewinning author Toni Morrison (coauthored with Dr. Clenora Hudson Weems). His on going research project is on the 18th century slave narrative of Olaudah Equiano. He is currently working on a book length work on novelist John Edgar Wideman.

An award winning author, Dr. Samuels has been President of the African American Literature and Culture Society since it was founded. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the American Literature Association (ALA).
