Class Description

CARDIO/FITNESS

Body Works
Tone your body into a work of art by using a combination of weights, pilates, and cardio.

Boot Camp
Think gym class or recess for adults.   This class is held outdoors and will make use of the campus environment for non-stop functional fitness fun with interval sets to condition your heart, your lungs, and your muscles!   7 weeks.

Butts & Guts
A 30 minute class of safe, fun, and effective moves to strengthen and sculpt the abs, glutes, inner and outer thighs, and the lower back.

Cardio Pump
Add variety to your workout with this intense combination of cardio and weights that is sure to make you sweat!

Combo Challenge
Cross training aerobics that uses a combination of floor and step for a workout filled with interest and variety.

Fat Burner
A low impact workout with light hand weights, bands, and/or balls.  Easy to follow, intense, and effective.

Flex Appeal

This 30 minutes non-cardio class is focused on strengthening, toning, and sculpting your body from head to toe using resistance bands, dumbbells, and your own body weight.

Flexibility for Fitness

Improve flexibility and increase range of motion through balance training, ballistic and static stretching, self-massage, and dynamic movements designed to actively engage the muscles and improve their elasticity.

Dynamic Strength
A total body workout!   Multi-joint exercises make for a challenging, functional, and effective strength and conditioning class.  You'll keep moving as you flow from weights to bands, bars to balls, mats to steps, and plyometrics to pilates.

Hip Hop
A great opportunity to get fit, groove to the music, and learn basic hip hop moves.

Kickboxing
A combination of kickboxing moves and the power of strength training for an all around great workout!

Power Step
A 70-minute circuit style class utilizing step aerobics combined with muscle toning and pilates to give you a total body workout.

Step It Up

Basic, straightforward, pure, unadulterated STEP.  Set to upbeat music, this "no frills" class will make the beginner feel comfortable and offer modification for the experienced.

Swim Fit
Improve your swimming technique and conditioning level through a progression of drills and swim workouts designed to develop your endurance, speed, and efficiency (This is not a learn to swim class, participants must be able to swim 50 yards continuously).

Total Body Fitness
This total body workout includes cardiovascular and strength training intervals combining floor work, calisthenics, and plyometrics that are sure to burn fat while strengthening and toning muscles.

Turbo Kick

Set to the hottest music around TK combines kickboxing and body-sculpting moves In a non-stop cardio workout to help you kick and punch your way to the next level of fitness.

Zumba
A fusion of Latin music and easy to follow dance moves that create a dynamic total body workout.  Routines feature interval sessions of fast and slow rhythms for a calorie burning, heart-racing, muscle-pumping, body-energizing, "fitness party"!

 

Personal Enrichment

Belly Dance
Learn the essentials of Middle Eastern dance. Focus will be on movement with some choreography. Taught by Zahirah, who has two decades of experience.

Break Dance ( Pop n' Lock)

Learn the basics of both old and new skool hip hop, while getting a solid foundation to poppin' and lockin'.  During all the FUN, you'll learn some of the history behind the hip hop and funk styles.

Disc Golf
Fundamentals and mechanics of throwing discs for maximum distance and accuracy.  A really great game to learn on our new disc golf course.

Jazz Dance

An upbeat program for dancers and non-dancers alike.  Emphasis will be on technique, jazz moves, sequences and routines.

Latin/Ballroom Dance

Heat things up this spring by discovering the rhythms of the Cha Cha, and Tango.  This is a beginning level class and partners are not required.

Mat Pilates
A pilates-based mat class combining core alignment, posture, and flexibility exercises to build strength and to improve flexibility, agility, body awareness and posture. Please bring a mat and towel.

Modern Dance

Learn to combine elements of carefully balanced and calculated movements with elements of free dance and personal expression.

Tennis I
Breakdown of fundamental tennis strokes.  For the beginning player and those who need fundamental work.  4 weeks: September 9 - October 2.

Tennis II
Strong foundation of tennis strokes required. Emphasis will be on the game, strategy and drills. Must have previous training on the fundamentals.  4 weeks: September 8 - October 1.

Tai Chi

A centuries-old Chinese martial art discipline that teaches self-defense, balance, flexibility, strength, and relaxation while improving circulation, balance, and coordination.

Yoga-Dynamic

A challenging, athletic class that uses a complex series of yoga postures while emphasizing transitions and breath coodination to build strength and stamina.  this class is taught in contant motion and is a strong physical practice with attention to body-alignment details.  this is an excellent workout for the g athlete or the student who wants to enjoy the powerful, moving side of yoga.

Yoga-Flow
Increase your strength and flexibility by uniting body and breath.  You'll learn to  move with absolute awareness as you flow from one posture to another.  The practice becomes a meditation in motion.

Yoga-Fusion

This class combines the strengthening moves of power yoga with the flexibility balance, and core conditioning postures from other styles of yoga to give you a complete and invigorating workout.

Yoga-Hatha

Hatha yoga uses breathing, postures and relaxation for an excellent inner and outer workout designed fo personal harmony and balance.

Yoga-Power

A physically challenging form of yoga to tone, sculpt, and improve flexibility and stamina.  More of  a power yoga.

Yoga-Restore

Restore yoga draws from several traditions of yoga flowing together in poses that promote precision in alignment, while increasing strength and flexibility.

Yoga--Wake Up With

Wake up with Yoga is a unique blend of yoga styles designed to awaken the mind, body, and spirit, preparing you for the day.

Yogalates

A fun, challenging combination of yoga and pilates that will increase strength, flexibility and overall fitness.
