Speakers and Presentations

Each year many programs are scheduled to provide information and entertainment. Annual presentations include the Banff Festival of Mountain Films World Tour, and Banff's Radical Reels show for those who crave more adrenaline.  Each year we also present slide shows and lectures.  Past presentions have included climber Lynn Hill, mountaineers Reinhold Messner and Ed Viestures and local hero Conrad Anker, along with many others.

The 2008/2009 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings films from the 33rd annual Banff Mountain Film Festival to about 285 communities around the world. From an exploration of remote landscapes and mountain cultures to adrenaline-fueled action sports, films in this year’s world tour are sure to captivate and amaze the explorer within you.

Radical Reels Tour

The best and most adrenaline filled films of the Banff Film Festival will be screened on March 3, 2009 at Kingsbury Hall. This year Radical Reels tickets are reserved seating, are $8.00 each and are available only at the Kingsbury Hall Box Office: 801-581-7100

COSTA RICA: LAND OF PURA VIDA

Far beyond the commercial buses and lines of tourists exists a Costa Rica that few have seen. From rivers that are pristine in their untouched splendor to locals who have no pretense, only hearts of gold and open arms, adventure traveler Andrew Taylor will show images and share experiences from his five years in the rapidly growing ecotourism industry. Attendees this evening will leave with a better understanding of the fragile beauty of the rainforests, the many positive benefits of eco-tourism, how it works, and how to find these types of tours.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Avalanche Education Series Thursday, January 29, 2009 7:00 pm in the Behavioral Sciences Auditoium.  This free workshop will help you learn about what you should know before you head into the backcounty.  Whether you are a skier, snowboarder, snowmobiler or snowshoe hiker, come get the info you need! Presentaion will be made by Craig Gordon of the Utah Avalanche Center.
