Many students choose to live off-campus. The rent for one-bed room ranges around $350-500, and $50-700 for 2-bed room. And you might need to pay electricity, gas utility and cable (internet).
Usually you will need to sign a lease for at least 6 months. Many landlords ask for deposit (less than 1 month's rent). PLEASE consult your department-mates or lab-mates before you sign the lease in case you were cheated. The deposit will be returned to you when you leave. You should notify your landlord a month in advance. The rooms may be furnished or unfurnished. You can get housing info from the Chinese Mailing List, the Salt Lake Tribune, campus posters, Public board and etc.
