The Symposium will be held on the campus of the University of Utah.  A few rooms have been reserved at the University Guest House (similar to a hotel) and in the residence halls (built specifically for the 2002 Winter Olympic Village).  Other nearby hotels include the University Park Marriott and the dozens of downtown Salt Lake City hotels which have easy access to the Symposium facilities on the Light Rail system (UTA Trax).

If you would like to reserve a room at the University Guesthouse, please click here or call them at the number given here.  Mention that you are with the FFF 2007 group.

If you would like to reserve a room in the residence halls, please follow the instructions on this form.  Check in at the residence halls can be accomplished at the Heritage Center.

The opening reception will be held at the Ft. Douglas Officers Club, which is next door to the University Guesthouse.

The Trax line is a light-rail line (above ground subway) that runs about every 15 minutes to and from downtown Salt Lake City and has a stop (Ft. Douglas) very close to the Guesthouse and Residence Halls as well as the Officers Club (location of the opening reception).  Unfortunately, the Trax line does not yet extend to the airport, so to get from the airport to the conference, it may be best to rent a car, take a taxi, or take a shuttle.

While on the campus of the University of Utah, this interactive map provides the best information on getting around and the locations of most buildings/activities.  There are regular shuttles that link the different areas of campus, including the Warnock Engineering Building (site of the symposium) and the Guesthouse/Residence Halls.  The red and blue shuttles directly link the Guesthouse/Residence Halls to the Warnock Engineering Building.  It is a 10-15 minute walk from the Guesthouse/Residence Halls to the Warnock Engineering Buildign (WEB).  Note that since the Warnock Engineering Building has just opened, it is not yet on all maps of campus.  For reference, it is next to the Merrill Engineering Building (MEB) and directly above the Engineering and Mines Classroom Building (EMCB).

There are restaurants available in the Olpin Union, the Peterson Heritage Center, and all along 1300 East and University Streets, as well as downtown Salt Lake City.  The interactive map indicates eating locations on campus.

Note that public wireless internet access is available across campus at insecure.utah.edu
