Yanqi Tong's research interests include comparative studies of the intersection of political and economic changes in the former communist countries, rural development , and environmental politics in China . She is the author of Transition from State Socialism: Political and Economic Changes in Hungary and China, ( Rowman & Littlefield, 1997), and contributed articles to Comparative Politics, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, and several edited volumes.
