STUDENT HANGOUTS
new students at the U

Where do University of Utah students go to study, eat, spend time with friends, exercise, or just relax? Check out some of the many haunts of the Utes.

On-Campus

Student Union - www.union.utah.edu

From parties like Crimson Nights and Redfest, to finishing up a homework assignment or just taking a nap on a couch, U of U students enjoy a lot of time at the Union. A food court, billiard & game room, bowling alley, copy center, and computer lab are located on the first floor, with ballrooms, an art gallery, and meeting rooms on the second, third, and fourth floors. The Union is also home to ASUU (the U's Student Government), the Daily Utah Chronicle, and a number of other student groups and services.

Marriott Library - www.lib.utah.edu

The Marriott Library is home to more than two million books, a small café, a large computer lab, and a plethora of places to study. Students may listen to visiting speakers in the Gould Auditorium, study in small groups in "the fishbowl," take free computer-training courses, or just curl up with a good book.

Campus Recreation Facilities - www.utah.edu/campusrec

Whether it's the Einar Nielsen Field House, the HPER complex, or the 9th hole on the campus golf course, students gather at Campus Rec facilities to enjoy a little diversion from the books. Other amenities include basketball and volleyball gymnasiums, the natatorium, circuit weights, cardio machines, indoor tennis courts, handball/racquetball courts, squash courts, a 200-meter jogging track, dance studio, student lounge, locker rooms/showers, and saunas and whirlpools.

Chase Peterson Heritage Commons -www.housing.utah.edu/heritage.html

Resident or not, students can always find something going on in the Heritage Commons area. From watching a free movie in the historic Post Theater, to unwinding in the game and exercise rooms , to just hanging out in the Commons with friends , students find the campus community alive and well.

Off-Campus

The University of Utah is located in beautiful Salt Lake City, allowing students to take advantage of all the area has to offer. And with a free public transit pass and student discounts offered for everything from pizza to skiing, students can easily access their favorite stomping grounds off-campus.
