Juniors, even though you have not yet entered into your senior year, it’s time to ask questions like: What do I want to study when I get to college? Where do I begin? Which school is right for me?
To help make this process a little easier, the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services at the University of Utah is hosting Junior Day 2008, at the Heritage Center, April 19th. This FREE event is specifically for juniors and their parents to visit campus and learn about the exciting educational opportunities available at the “U". There will be workshops on the Admissions process and Scholarships, Financial Aid, Housing, the LEAP Program and the Honors Program and you can listen to a student panel. You can also visit with campus representatives and learn about academic programs, extracurricular activities and support services. Tours of campus and housing will be available starting at noon.
How long does it last?
Check-in begins at 8:45 a.m., Junior Day will officially begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end at 12:00 p.m. This is an open house format--so stop by for a little while or spend the morning with us. The choice is yours. Afterward, students and parents will have the option to tour the University of Utah's campus and Residential Halls.
Where do I need to go?
Junior Day will be held at the University’s Heritage Center (#5 on the campus map). Directions to the Heritage Center are available if you are driving or using TRAX. All parking is FREE on Saturdays, therefore, you can park anywhere you would like; however, there are six main lots in which we recommend parking. If you chose to use these lots, please allow yourself 15 minutes walking time. Please be aware that the Salt Lake City marathon is on the same day and begins on the U’s campus. We have been informed that the marathon activities on campus will be done by the time Jr. Day begins. However, the marathon route does pass through parts of Salt Lake and you could encounter the runners as you drive to campus. Therefore, we are providing directions to campus that avoid the marathon route entirely.

Junior U-Night- Friday, April 18th (The night before Junior Day)
The U-Night program is designed to give high school juniors an opportunity to be a University of Utah student for a day. Participants who attend will be provided with dinner, breakfast and sleeping accommodations.
Space is limited to 20 students, on a first come first serve basis for high school juniors planning on attending Jr. Day. To participate you must call to reserve your spot and we will begin taking reservations by phone Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
What does the U-Night program cost?
There is a minimal charge of $10 to attend the U-Night Program. This pays for meals, sleeping accommodations, event tickets, and a University of Utah souvenir. Participants might also want to bring spending money for buying extras (candy, gifts, etc.).

What about parents?
Parents are welcome to participate in the information session and campus tour, as well as any advisor appointments and some classroom visits that you schedule. The evening activities with the student hosts, however, are reserved for prospective students only.
For parents staying overnight in Salt Lake City, we recommend the University Guest House (888-416-4075) on the University of Utah's campus. The University Guest House offers wonderful accommodations at a reasonable price and is also minutes from the Heritage Center and the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services. (You must mention that you want the ‘Student Rate’ to get a discount.)
