U-NIGHT
new students at the U

The U-Night program is designed to give high school seniors an opportunity to be a University of Utah student for a day. Through the U-Night Program, prospective students can meet with an admissions counselor, tour the campus, attend an on-campus event, spend a night in the Residence Halls and be hosted by current University of Utah students. Participants who attend will be provided with dinner, breakfast and sleeping accommodations.  Additionally, students may have the opportunity to attend a university-level class and meet with staff, faculty, and academic advisors.

What does the U-Night program cost?
There is a minimal charge of $10 to attend the U-Night Program. This pays for meals, sleeping accommodations, event tickets, and a University of Utah souvenir. Participants might also want to bring spending money for buying extras (candy, gifts, etc.).

What is the U-Night agenda?

3:00 pm - Check-in at the Peterson Heritage Center

3:15 pm - Information Session with an admission counselor

4:15 pm - Campus tour

5:30 pm - Ice-breaker games with the hosts

6:00 pm - Dinner at Heritage Commons

7:00 pm - Scheduled activity on campus

9:00 pm - Hang out with the hosts at the Residence Halls

10:00 pm - Sleep in the Residence Halls

7:00 am - Breakfast at the 'Commons'

8:00 am - Check-out at the Heritage Center

Any academic advisor appointments or classroom visits are scheduled either prior to or after the U-Night.  Arrangements can be made with advance notice.

The U-Night was designed to fit into student schedules. Check-in after school and then checkout the next morning before school starts.

When can I come?

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring your $10, a signed liability waiver, the guest info page, U-Night participant confirmation letter, and the items on the U-Night Checklist.

How do I sign up?

Registering is easy. Call the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services at (801) 581-8761 or (800) 685-8856. Space is limited so you will want to sign up early.  Registration begins September 8, 2008.  You must have a confirmed reservation through the U-Night coordinator to participate.

What about parents?

Parents are welcome to participate in the information session and campus tour, as well as any advisor appointments or classroom visits that you schedule. The evening activities with the student hosts, however, are reserved for prospective students only.

For parents staying overnight in Salt Lake City, we recommend the University Guest House (888-416-4075) on the University of Utah's campus. The University Guest House offers wonderful accommodations at a reasonable price and is also minutes from the Heritage Center and the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services.
