Program Description

The Utah Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a 10-week research program for students who are considering careers in biological or biomedical research sciences. Our goal is to offer a unique, research-training experience that will help undergraduates decide if they should choose a career in this challenging area. The program is limited to Utah residents and is aimed at students who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in a research project at the University of Utah. Selected students will work full-time June 2-August 8, 2008, in a research laboratory within the Health Science Center at the University of Utah. Lab selections will be made by the Program Director based on lab availability and student interests. The research experience will be supplemented by an informal seminar series in which the students will learn about the research interests and career paths of current students and faculty. To help students more deeply understand their research projects, they will each give verbal presentations and write a short proposal about their individual projects. Academic credit for the program is available. A printer-friendly version of the complete program description can be obtained by clicking here.
