  • Outstanding Crisis Communication - Golden Spike Award
    On June 2, 2008, data tapes containing the backup billing records of nearly 2.2 million University Health Care patients were stolen from the private vehicle of a courier. One month later, the tapes were recovered thanks to a massive communication campaign that proactively alerted patients, and the public, to the theft.
  • U Ranks Third in PC Magazine's "Top Wired Colleges 2008"
    The University of Utah has been ranked number three in this year's PC Magazine's "America’s Top Wired Colleges."  The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Kansas State were the only two universities ranked higher.  Others in the top 20 include MIT, Stanford, USC, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, Boston College and Villanova. 
  • U Receives ACUTA Honorable Mention for Wireless
    Earlier this year, Trapeze Networks nominated the University of Utah for an ACUTA award honoring excellence in communications technology. The U utilizes Trapeze hardware for much of the campus' wireless networks infrastructure. The nomination was based on the recent project to implement ubiquitous wireless coverage in campus buildings.
